Splitsville, Vol. 1: Supersuckers/Electric Frankenstein

Various Artists, "Splitsville, Vol. 1: Supersuckers/Electric Frankenstein"

This is the first installment of The Music Cartel's set of split albums. Both Electric Frankenstein and Supersuckers play mid/fast-paced rock that sports a splash of punk. Both bands sound fairly similar, though the vocalist for Electric Frankenstein is a little crazier and demonstrates a bit more range than his counterpart in Supersuckers. Each of the two bands contribute five songs to the split, giving the disc a total running time of 30 minutes.

There is one problem with this album: neither band is all that interesting. The songs, for the most part, though none are bad, just kind of fall short of brilliant and plunge headlong into the rather large pit of rock mediocrity. Oh well, maybe Splitsville 2 will be better.
