InDread Cold, "Underaba"
Indread Cold remind me of the thousands of bands Ihsahn formed after Emperor broke up, you know the one's with his wife and Trickster G that all sound the same and put out all their stuff on The End Records. Coming from me this is not a compliment. I really just found this to be a mix of goth, industrial and pretension. Sadly the last part of that list is the main ingredient. Most of the album is like an M. Night Shylaman movie. It spends all its time trying to set a dark atmosphere in order to distract you from the fact that there is nothing going on. I really couldn't get into this at all. The sound is fine but the music has no teeth to it all. It has all the trappings of similar albums with synths, chanting, distorted vocals, etc. You name it, itís in there. The worst part is later in the album when some really nasal vocals get distorted which sounds almost as silly as Morbid Angel's Where the Slime Live. Of course those have competition in the song Illusory Words of Goodbye, which have some vocals spasms that remind me of Marianne Faithful's episodes on The Memory Remains by Metallica. I refuse to call those vocals. Not sure what this record is supposed to be doing because it's doing nothing for me. Feel free to say that I don't get this record, because I don't. I don't really want to either.K.Huckins
