Reviews : Albums : Grenouer, "Try"

Grenouer’s Try is a three song EP full of head crunching, bizarre metal. Sounding like Meshuggah-influenced thrash with psychotic gory vocals, these Russians are definitely finding their own path within the metal scene. The mix of futuristic, cold technicality and the often splattery delivery give the music on Try some interesting depth that the purely technical bands, Meshuggah epecially, are nowadays sorely lacking. To round this EP out, the band has procured some truly representative, cool artwork to help further their message. Grenouer have concocted some strange music on this disc, but it’s impossible to say that Try isn’t a worthy effort.
