It Will Come, "Bound/47"
This is a compilation of both of the band's demos, with the first three songs being the 47 demo and the last three being the Bound demo. Now let's get this party started.
47 This is the band's newest demo. As the band mentions, they got their name from a My Dying Bride song of the same name. The influence doesn't stop there by any means. This is epic doom with female vocals and that wonderful guitar sound all you My Dying Bride fans fiend for. Vocalist Louise Halldin also handles the bass for the band, and she does both quite well. My only problem with her vocals is the constant multi-tracking, as I think she sounds much better on a single track. I don't know why but she sounds angelic when single tracked but the multitracking kind of hurts my ears. The drumming is pretty solid, though it can be kind of hard to really go out on a limb in a slow, plodding doom band such as this. The songs are naturally quite long, the shortest one on this demo clocks in at 8 minutes. This is some damn good stuff though. I didn't fall in love with this really until I started typing up this review after a few listens. This one needed a few listens to grow on me, but damned if it didn't. Maybe it's just because I miss The Angel and the Dark River-era My Dying Bride that we haven't heard much of in awhile. It was a good thing I stuck with this one. I suggest you do the same.
Bound There are a few differences between 47 and Bound. The first and most noticeable is the song length. The longest song on Bound is 6 minutes whereas the shortest on 47 is eight minutes. The music is a bit mellower on this demo. It is not all mellow by any stretch, but the overall sound and feel is a lot lighter. There are some interludes which can play hell with your will to live, but this is not nearly as oppressive as 47. In fact this demo would be best described as My Dying Bride with just a hint of The Gathering. Louise Halldin sounds a bit like Anneke on this demo, which is a partial explanation for The Gathering resemblance. However the more mellow parts remind me of How to Measure a Planet. However in spite of showing broader influences than 47 it also feels a bit more stripped down. I think that's why I'm more into Bound than 47. This is not always the case, but less feels like as far as It Will Come goes. If there is any justice they'll get snapped up by some label soon.K.Huckins
