A Day to Fall, "Dying Day"

Graced with plenty of hatred, thick, grating guitar tones and some scary riffs, A Day to Fall’s debut Dying Day is a promising, albeit simple exercise in brutal metalcore from the wastelands of New Mexico. Reminiscent of Bleeding Through’s more recent material, the music here is catchy, somewhat melodic, and heavier than you’d expect. As well, A Day to Fall’s use of keyboards and the unrelenting, heavy vocal delivery are techniques favored by the aforementioned sextet from California. The fact that Dying Day as often falls on the metal side of the fence as it does on the hardcore side, however, distinguishes them as their own act, with (somewhat debatably) their own sound. A Day to Fall deserve props for slugging it out and sounding truly angry and competent. Dying Day is still metalcore, and it still has those unfortunate breakdowns, but it’s really heavy and at times downright catchy.
